Is 2xSwap really free?

Yes. 2xSwap is free to download and use, with no account and no subscription.

Do my files go through the internet or a server?

Never. The transfer happens directly from one PC to another over your local network, end-to-end encrypted. No data leaves your network — there is no middleman server.

Do I need to install it on both PCs?

Yes: every PC that sends or receives needs 2xSwap. The installer sets everything up automatically, including the Windows firewall — there's nothing for you to configure.

Do both PCs have to be on the same network?

Yes: the same Wi-Fi or the same local network (router, switch, or even a phone hotspot). No internet connection is required.

Is there a file size limit?

No. You can send a single document just as easily as a whole multi-GB folder. If the Wi-Fi drops for a moment, the transfer resumes on its own where it left off.

Windows says "unknown publisher". Is it dangerous?

No. This message appears for any app whose signing certificate isn't registered yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". Official signing is planned for an upcoming release.

Is it available on Mac, Linux or phone?

For now, 2xSwap is available on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Other platforms may follow.
